Game 19 (16-3)
5 November: At home vs. BV Southwest in State Quarters (1-1 in 4 overtimes and 5-6 in PK's)

What a courageous effort and match by our boys.  We grab a nice early lead off just a great Konnesky goal, but then we lose Gabe to a high ankle sprain middle-to-late first half, and—for the rest of the match.

DJ dropped back to centerback, various guys, especially Eames took his spot at outside mid, and we played on. And on. And on. 4 overtimes, with so many of our guys playing the full 110 minutes—the whole backline, and more. That's just fantastic. Welch went 110, Parker 110, as well, and Jack Martin probably went 100.

What a joy this team has been to coach. And we make it to PK's, and we cash 4 out of 5, and Shae saves one—that's pretty dang good. It's pretty much a crapshoot in PK's, especially after your first five. They get us on our 7th shooter. But the boys just wouldn't back down, could not do anything but put all they had into it.

But anyone who has followed us all year will testify to our team defense; the boys just work and work to get behind the ball, to force the ball negative or to double into turnovers. 

The match was about as even a match as you could find—shots, corners, free kicks, all about the same. Both teams battled and battled. That is about as close as it gets.

I will say Shae had a couple of remarkable saves during the match, and he did come up with a big save during PK’s. But this was most surely a team effort tonight. 


Bring home your 3rd straight T-wolves. You have a fine, fine team. 

Our guys need to hang their heads high. What a season and what a final game.
