Defending State Champs Come to STA

Game 9: (8-1-0)
vs. Defending State Champs, BV Southwest, at Saint Thomas Aquinas (1-0)

We played very well for the first 60 minutes of the match. We should have come away with a 2-0 halftime lead, but instead, we offered up some momentum for Southwest, and they did come out strong in the second.

But I thought we matched their tempo in the first 20 minutes of the second half. And, at the time, I thought it was right to drop Parker into the midfield with 20 to go, but honestly we did not connect a pass after that I thought.  So, I am not sure that was the best decision I have made recently. We did, however, win.

Today was Caden Eames' birthday and my did he give us quite a gift. His goal in the 7th minute turned out to be the game-winner. Parker did the heavy lifting: 1) bringing Martin's pass off his chest and down to his feet 2) and somehow conjuring his body in a way that let him scream a ball past the keeper and off the far post that 3) then Kitts playing it back hard off a defender and 4) finally Eames lacing it near post. Wow.

BWhite smugly named the backline as the BWhite Players of the Match. They just teamed up with Carter Diggs (nice game) for, yet another, shutout.

We are now off to Iowa to play the big boys!
