Game 11 (9-2-0)
4 October at Go 4 Goal Classic in Burlington (4-2)
We bounced back nicely from yesterday’s tough loss against a very highly regarded and highly ranked Gateway Legacy Academy team out of St. Louis—# 5 in the USA Today National Poll.
Missing Gabe, we had to have great games out of Mitchell, DJ, and Drew. And we did. Jacob Muckerman also had a fine match at right back as they couldn't attack down our right side after he took the field.
And BWhite thought this was truly an All-Team performance as he named "The Team" the BWhite Players of the Match.
The key to me was our finding success on Aquinas basics: we cashed two throw-ins, one T-ball, and one corner-like deadball. That's about as Aquinas as you get.
Overall, it puts us in a position to claim the Consolation Championship of the A-Bracket. We will meet up with Washburn Rural, we believe, tomorrow—they lost their first match to Naperville North only 1-0, and then they defeated Bishop Miege today 1-0.
There is a possibility that they find both of us another team to play from a different state than Kansas. We will see.
STATS:
First Half:
Saints: Shots: 6 (5) Corners: 3 (Morrisette, Stoecklein, Kanakares)
20:00 Schroeder (Kitts with a nice chip to Nen who attacks the baseline for a T-ball to the back post)
Legacy: Shots: 3 (2) Corners: 0
Second Half:
Saints: Shots: 7 (4) Corners: 1 (Stoecklein)
32:00 White (Parker heaves it into the box for the nice header)
30:00 Russell (Drew Welch bends the perfect deadball for the header)
10:34 Martin (Kitts takes the deadball like a ground corner with a hard ground pass through Parker into Jack for the shot)
Legacy: Shots: 3 (2) Corners: 0
11:54 Chip (to the back side is won, before he turns to lash it in)
3:45 Dribble (by our defender to lay it in)
